This is largely due to the fact that the developers have managed to properly combine addictive gameplay, a variety of mechanics and simple controls. But previously the game was only available on consoles and computers. Now the owners of devices on iOS and Android should pay attention to Rocket League Sideswipe. Of course, the game design in this version of the game is somewhat simplified, but it is still able to attract the attention of long hours.

That said, the graphic style of Rocket League has also been retained on mobile devices. The only difference is that now the game has become two-dimensional, but it was made for the players’ comfort when playing on smartphones. The developers have made sure that the controls on the touchscreen display have become polished and optimised. Users will start the game on a 2D arena, where other machines are driving around, kicking the ball and trying to push it into the goal.

There can be between 2 and 4 players on the map at a time. The exact number depends on the mode selected. Several techniques can be used in the game. There is a basic jump, a double jump and turbo acceleration, which allows you to get some advantage over your rivals for a short period of time. By honing your skills using all of these techniques, you will be able to defeat other players more often.

Is Rocket League Sideswipe worth playing on mobile devices?

Many experienced gamers have long preferred the Psyonix adaptations for mobile devices. There are several reasons for this: full-fledged porting with all game-design mechanics, modes, and cosmetic items preserved. Thanks to all of this it is comfortable and convenient to play the Psyonix product. Especially if you use a professional gamepad in the process.

But even in the absence of a joystick, simply playing a few short matches on the touch screen is quite addictive. That being said, even the lack of internet won’t be a problem. Rocket League Sideswipe has an excellent bot game that does not require authentication through an account. You can customize the difficulty level to your liking. The choice ranges from Easy to Hard, and on the last one you’ll have to do some hard work to win.

Rules and game modes

All matches have a maximum duration of 2 minutes and there is extra time until the first goal in case of a draw. There are currently several modes in Rocket League Sideswipe:

1. Duels. Players fight in an arena one-on-one.
2. Paired Battles. A game of two on two.
3. A mixture of basketball and football. The goal is horizontal and the ball must be thrown into it.

Overall, bots behave quite intelligently, especially on the highest difficulty level. But they have one serious drawback – they can’t use turbo. Because of this, for example, basketball is not so interesting to play with bots.

Arenas at the moment in Rocket League Sideswipe are few – only three pieces. But they are very different from each other, both in design, and in some game moments. For example, different arenas have gates at different heights.

In any case, Psyonix has managed to create an almost perfect arcade game for mobile devices. Yes, there is still a lot to change and add to the game. But already now it is fun to fight other gamers and bots.
